The Climate Environment System research center (CES) was established at Seoul National University in August 2000 as a national science research center endorsed by the Korea Ministry of Science and Technology and financially supported by the Korea Science and Engineering Foundation for the period 2000-2008. Its establishment was a result of governmental recognition of the importance of climate and environment changes, which is now one of the most important issues in the world as well as in the nation.
